Overview

At Admiral Insurance, the role of a manager goes beyond overseeing tasks and achieving business goals. Wellbeing and mental health are now recognised as essential parts of the role, with leaders expected to support their teams both professionally and personally.

Events such as the Covid 19 pandemic have only increased the need for this, with many employees still managing both pre-existing and new pressures alongside their day-to-day responsibilities.

Although there are basics in place, such as signposting tools, basic internal guidance and mental health support options, many managers still feel unsure of how and when to step in. Knowing this and when to escalate a concern can feel unclear without structured training.

“63% of UK employees exhibited signs of burnout in 2024, such as exhaustion and disengagement, up from 51% two years prior.

Admiral colleagues require the right tools, language and structure to respond with empathy, consistency and clarity. A Welfare and Support learning framework would give managers and support staff this offering practical, structured guidance, helping them to build the confidence needed to care for others, while also considering their own welfare.
